Timeline

09.25.2001 The state approves the establishment of the Sakhnin Academic College for Teacher Education. Three study programs are opened/introduced: English, Mathematics-Computer Science, and Special Education.

2002 The college submits a request to the Council for Higher Education (CHE) for recognition as an academic institution.

2004 The college receives recognition and certification for awarding a bachelor’s degree in teaching.

2005 CHE approves the college’s academic council.

2010 Early Childhood program is opened.

2011 Elementary track grades 1-6, is opened, offering Arabic, English, and Mathematics programs.

2011 Master’s degree program (M.Ed.) is opened in Management and Organization of Education Systems.

2012 The Science Department for the elementary track and a master’s degree program (M.Ed.) in Educational Counseling are opened.

2013 Master’s degree program (M.Ed.) in School-based Evaluation is opened.

2014 Master’s degree program (M.Ed.) in learning disabilities is opened.

2014 Sakhnin Academic College wins the Yitzhak Rabin National Prize for Quality and Excellence. The prize is awarded on behalf of the Prime Minister. For more information (in Hebrew): Zohar.net portal and the Civil Service Commission website.

2019 Master’s degree program in teaching (M.Teach) for elementary students in English, mathematics, and computer science is opened.
